El aeropuerto recibe vuelos de diferentes aeropuertos del Reino Unido, como Londres Stansted, Liverpool, Bristol, Southampton, Exeter, Birmingham, Edimburgo y Leeds Bradford.
Una vez que hayas recogido tu coche, solo hay unos 3 km aproximadamente hasta el pintoresco mercado de la ciudad de Bergerac por la carretera N21 que rodea el aeropuerto por el norte y por el oeste.
La ciudad está situada en la región de Aquitania, en el extremo oeste del departamento de Dordoña, uno de los destinos más populares entre los británicos que visitan Francia. También es un punto práctico para visitar las regiones del Périgord y de Lot y Garona.
Es una ciudad que celebra las pequeñas cosas de la vida a lo grande, con sus museos del vino y el tabaco, y los vastos viñedos que la rodean.
Disfruta de un paseo por el casco antiguo con sus viejas casas de madera y hasta el puerto para hacer alguna excursión por el río Dordoña. No te sorprenderá ver que también tiene una estatua de Cyrano de Bergerac, con su gran nariz.
No olvides visitar el Arboretum de Podestat al norte de la ciudad. Un auténtico paraíso para los amantes de la naturaleza, abierto solo con reserva previa, pero con entrada gratuita.
Otras poblaciones con fácil acceso son Burdeos (a 85 km por la autopista A89), Périgueux (a 50 km), Sarlat (a 70 km) y Agen (a 90 km).
What to do in Bergerac
The airport is served by flights from a number of UK airports including London Stansted, Liverpool, Bristol, Southampton, Exeter, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Leeds Bradford.
Once you’ve picked up your hire car, it’s just a short trip (3 km approx.) to the quaint market town of Bergerac via the N21 road which passes the airport on its north and west sides.
The town is situated in the Aquitaine region, at the western edge of the Dordogne département, one of the most popular destinations in France for UK visitors. It’s also a handy starting-off point for trips to the Périgord and Lot et Garonne.
As a town it celebrates the finer things in life in a major way, with its wine and tobacco museums and the vast surrounding vineyards.
Enjoy a stroll through the old town with its old timbered houses and down to the vieux port for trips on the Dordogne river. You won’t be surprised to see that there’s also a statue of Cyrano de Bergerac, complete with a very large nose.
Don’t forget the Arboretum de Podestat to the north of the town. A haven for nature lovers, the arboretum is open by appointment and admission is free.
Other towns within easy reach include Bordeaux (85 km via the A89 motorway), Périgueux (50 km), Sarlat (70 km) and Agen (90 km).
